Shari is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both Virginia and Alabama. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, a Master’s Degree in Addictions Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling. She is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a trained Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) Facilitator. 

Shari specializes in anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, PTSD, and couples counseling. In her 18 years in practice, Shari has had the opportunity to work with different populations in a variety of mental health settings including crisis hotline counseling, case management, residential addictions treatment, intensive outpatient substance abuse counseling, co-occurring outpatient individual and group therapy, medication assisted treatment, moral reconation therapy groups, integrated behavioral health care, and residential eating disorder treatment. 

Shari’s therapeutic philosophy is that the therapy process is a collaborative one between the therapist and client. She approaches each client from an individualized and client-centered perspective tailoring the treatment plan and therapy session to meet the needs, challenges and life experiences of each individual client. Shari utilizes Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gottman Method, and Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) to name a few.

Whatever your problems, my goal is to help you find relief from the emotions and/or relationships that are intense or painful, while identifying healthy goals and equipping you with the skills and the tools to gain peace. In a warm, safe, and patient space, we'll work together to challenge your struggles and transform the relationship you have with your life stressors.
